The Danger of Aspartame Poisoning

Artificial sweetener in foods like diet coke, diet pepsi, and equal they breaks down into formic acid and formaldehyde (a deadly neurotoxin). This form of aspartame poisoning result to a complex of symptoms such as headaches, GI disturbances, ear buzzing, dizziness, nausea, vertigo, weakness, chills, memory lapses, numbness and shooting pain in the extremities, behavioral disturbances, visual problems, birth defects and neuritis.

This dangerous food additive is contained in many products we consume everyday: carbonated diet drinks, breath mints, cereals, chewing gum, flavored syrups for coffee, frozen ice cream, fruit spread, gelatin (sugar free), hard and soft candies, ice tea powder/ready to drink, juices, instant cocoa mix, maple syrups, mousse, sugar free cookies, sugar free ketchups.

Aspartame poisoning and its toxicity can be traced from long term consumption of foods that contain aspartame as a sugar substitute.  This artificial food additive contains three dangerous substances namely aspartic acid, phenylalanine, and methanol.  These chemical substances cause dangerous toxic reactions in the body that induce the development of different serious medical conditions.

Aspartame poisoning is cited to be a significant health risk among people who consume products that contain aspartame as an artificial sweetener.  Among the potential dangers of aspartame poisoning include the risk of birth defects, brain cancer, diabetes, seizure, epilepsy, and emotional disorders.

Aspartame Poisoning with Aspartic Acid

Aspartic acid causes aspartame poisoning. It is an excitatory amoino acid that makes up about 40% of aspartame acting as a brain neurotransmitter. Excessive amount of aspartic acid results to neuronal death.

About 75% of neural deaths caused by aspartic acid already occur before significant symptoms are manifested.

Some of the long term exposure to this substance is closely related to chronic illnesses such as multiple sclerosis, memory loss, hearing loss, hormonal problems, epilepsy, alzheimer's disease, parkinson's disease, hypoglycemia, AIDS, dementia, brain lesions, and neuroendocrine disorders. Under debate are other myriads of reactions due to excessive aspartic acid in the brain including headaches, abdominal pains, nausea, sleeping problems, fatigue, vision impairments, anxiety attacks, depression and asthma.

Aspartame Poisoning with Phenylalaine

Phenylalaine is the second substance making up 50% of aspartame,  Intake of this substance is highly toxic to people with genetic disorder of phenylketonuria (PKU) who cannot metabolize phenylalanine in their system. When taken with carbohydrates, the phenylalanine level can shoot up to an excessive level which in turn decreases the serotonin level in the brain causing emotional disorders such as depression. Studies of reduced serotonin can lead to a violent reaction, depression, emotional imbalance, and behavioral changes.

Aspartamee Poisoning with Methanol

The third most dangerous substance present in aspartame is methanol, a deadly poison that makes 10% of aspartame. It is cited to cause blindness and death among alcoholics. Products with aspartame that are stored in a room with a temperature over 86 Fahrenheit (30 Centigrade) produces chemical reaction that releases methanol.

You have certainly written a very educational and factful article. I have long remembered the FDA saying the aspartame lies to consumers.Your great information sets the world straight.Well done. I am out of votes, but will be back with one for you here.

Exceptional information!

This is the only stuff I can't more than high fructose corn syrup. Whenever I drink diet soda or some other sugar free drink in moderate amounts I become extremely depressed and irritable for as long as it stays in my system which can be up to a few days. What sucks is that I am hypoglycemic and I try to avoid sugar whenever possible. Needless to say HFCS is bad for me as well. This leaves me with zero choices when it comes to many different kinds of beverages. If soda would simply use real sugar instead of corn syrup I would be able to drink it in moderation with minimal side effects.

Thanks for this informative article. Voted up.

A past co-worker was having frequent heart palpitations, at the age of 20 (she was fit and otherwise healthy). As it turns out, it was from using Aspartame daily. Thanks for sharing this info - I have never trusted this product.

Returning with a well deserved vote up.
