There is the right pill for everything under the heat of the sun. Would you believe that? However, come to think of it, but this drug, be it over-the-counter or with doctor’s prescription, may have some risk factors that go with it. Thus, no matter what risk a diet pill may pose to the user, many people would still continue to spend several thousand bucks on any new drugs that promise to throw off that unwanted fats or weight.
The successful management of obesity may require comprehensive and long-term treatment plan. On the other hand, the traditional way of treating it consists of regular exercise, proper diet and lifestyle change.
Hereunder are some detailed explanations of going for the traditional management of obesity, namely:
1. Regular Exercise . Walking is still the cheapest and the safest form of exercise. Twenty (20) minutes a day may do a lot to your health. Many people find this the best exercise because of the safe factor it connotes. There are incidence of knee injuries sustained in jogging, running and other forms of exercise that require physical exertion. Some may even trip off as they jog or run, thus, a bad fall may occur. But this does not discourage anyone from doing such exercise. It depends really on what suits people – young or old.
2. Eat foods which promote good health, such as, fruits, grains, vegetables and nuts. Nowadays, health books and other medical journals support the superiority of a vegetarian diet to one which is high in animal protein. With the proliferation of information on the presence of high saturated fats in animal protein, people who are so health conscious would rather subsist on vegetables to get a low-fat and high fiber diet. The number of vegetarians has increased in the last two (2) decades as the number of organizations and associations also went up.
3. Avoid foods high in saturated fats. Let us take out refined carbohydrates from the diet. Subsist on complex carbohydrates such as soy proteins, beans, bran, apples, and brown rice.
4. Sodas should be eliminated from your diet. It is healthier and cheaper if we just drink eight to ten glasses of water per day. What harm does soda bring to the drinker? Research says, colas contain a very high level of phosphoric acid which is being linked to kidney stones and other renal diseases. Likewise, soda drinkers have eighty percent (80%) more likely to develop type 2 diabetes. There are some people who have been doing water therapy treatment, which could help flush out toxins from the bodies.
5. Eat the right portions at the right time. The best way to start your day right is to take a heavy breakfast. In fact, this should be the heaviest meal for the entire day. Lunch should be in moderation and dinner, a light meal only. Do not eat in-between meals.
Whatever we do, it is still self discipline which will dictate us to effectively carry out our day-to-day plan.
