TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR LIFE
There are many ways to enhance and ensure your own well-being – exercising common sense, folk knowledge and up-to-date scientific information. Time is gold. You can start now by setting your priorities.
Health Food
Eating is not just to satisfy hunger or the urge of the tongue but to be healthy and energetic as possible. Eat natural health foods for good health. Eat plenty of vegetables, fruits, grains and nuts.
On Stress and Relaxation
Be friendly and sociable. Talking and a happy association with friends or relatives can make a lot to relieve stress and anxiety.
Simple meditation or simply learn how to relax is very significant to one’s life. People who usually take time for quiet contemplation gain the additional benefits of decreased stress and a lowered heart rate.
On Anger
Discover and learn how to control your anger and how to discharge it suitably. Airing your excessive anger to your family or officemates will only create bad feelings and anxiety and make your home or office life worse. Chronically angry people are prone for heart disease than calmer individuals. Walking, jogging and swimming or listening to chill-out music can help to disperse anger.
Regular Exercises
Reserve your time for this very important activity and make it regular. The most practical and convenient exercise is walking. Walking does not need any equipment at all, just your desire to work-out. Jogging, cycling and swimming are great exercises too. I recommend Tai chi or chi kung for all ages because of its non-straining and soft exercise with lots of benefits physically, mentally and spiritual as well. Seniors who practice tai chi develops healthy bones, healthy heart and normal blood pressure.
Be Safe!
More deaths from fire occur at homes. Install and maintain smoke detectors at home, one outside each bedroom and additional detector on each level of the house.
When going to public places like restaurants, theaters or hotels check the location of the exits/fire exits. This can save valued time if one already observed the fastest way out, to avoid panic, confusion and stampede.
Learn the basic of first aid and find out how to perform the maneuver on yourself as well besides helping others. Keep a well stocked emergency medical kit in an accessible place.
Health History
Learn your family’s health history, including your spouse because many diseases are hereditary. If you discovered a certain disease that runs into a family, your family doctor can monitor your health. Follow your doctor’s advice and take all medications as prescribed. Set up all due schedules for any medical check-ups, test including self-examinations you should have on a regular basis.
Learn the early warning signs of heart attack and stroke.
Understanding Information on Health
Part of taking charge of you means knowing the proper information, what is useful and what is not. Health panic occurs when the media shows wrong information about the results of medical studies, like for instance, taking supplements from an unknown source. Don’t jump ahead to a conclusion or change your daily habits on the basis of a single study. Understand fully the terms used to describe a research results and don’t be misled. Always keep an open healthy skepticism when reading medical breakthroughs. Check thoroughly the origin of the information. Researches from several studies are stronger than a single study.
Time Management
Take charge of your time. How you manage your time factually affect your health. Ask yourself what is most important to you, and then schedule your top priorities with definite decision. Do not overcrowd your free time or you will make it as stressful as your time at work. Spend your free time with regular exercises and meditation, but don’t forget to spend quality time with your love ones.
