Legends say Valentine was a healer

It is quite interesting to learn the legendary stories of Valentine. He was a priest in Rome around 270 AD. People of Rome were used to flock to his temple, which was near Emperor Claudius’ palace. Valentine advised people to live a good family life. He promoted love between couples. During wars, married men were not ready to leave their families. The Emperor got angry at this. He passed a law to stop all marriages and engagements.

Valentine could not agree with Emperor’s decree. He tried to help young people. They were secretly united in marriage in his temple. He became a friend of most of the couples in Rome. When Claudius came to know about it, he arrested Valentine and executed him.

While Valentine was in prison, he healed the jailer's blind daughter miraculously. On his way towards his execution, he sent a goodbye note, signed with his farewell message, "From your Valentine."
